Privacy policy

Ascope is made by TURKA Yazılım ve Danışmanlık Ticaret Ltd. Şti. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the Ascope Mac app, the ascope.app website and our servers process, and why. The short version: your data lives on your Mac, we don't sell anything, and there are no ads or advertising trackers.

Data stored on your Mac

The apps you track, your keywords, ranking history and settings are stored locally on your Mac. We can't see them and they're not uploaded anywhere.

Data our servers process

To look up rankings, popularity and difficulty, the app sends requests to api.ascope.app. These contain:

• Search terms, App Store app IDs and country codes you look up, so we can fetch App Store and popularity data.
• A random installation ID generated by the app, plus the app version, macOS version and language setting, used for rate limiting, abuse prevention and fixing bugs.
• Basic usage events, such as which features were used and whether a lookup failed, tied to the installation ID, so we can find bugs and improve Ascope.
• Your license key and a device identifier when you activate, validate or deactivate Pro, so a license can be limited to one Mac.
• Your IP address and approximate country, used for rate limiting and security.

Popularity values for search terms are cached on our servers and shared between users. They're not linked to you.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar processes your name, email, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email, order details and license status so we can support you and enforce licenses. We never see your full card number.

Website

ascope.app uses no advertising scripts. We measure visits with Google Analytics, which sets first-party cookies and collects page views, referrers, approximate location, device and browser information. Google processes this data under its privacy policy, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views, referrers, country and device type without cookies or tracking you across sites. When you click Download we count the download along with the referring page, your country and browser user agent, to understand where visitors come from.

Updates

The app checks api.ascope.app for updates once a day using Sparkle. This request includes the app version and your macOS version.

MCP server

The optional MCP server runs on your Mac and only accepts local connections. Data you share with an AI assistant through it is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy.

Retention and your rights

We keep server data only as long as we need it to run, secure and improve Ascope. Purchase records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax purposes. You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK), you may have additional rights, which we'll honor.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app or on this site.
